Indian cheese and mixed peppers stir fried in a spicy masala


250gm paneer, diced in cubes
3 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 small onion, finely sliced
2 mixed peppers
1tsp ground coriander
1tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder (click here for recipe)
1tsp garlic, minced
1tsp ginger, minced
1 green chilli, chopped (optional)
5 small cherry tomatoes, crushed
1 tsp dry fenugreek leaves (optional)
3/4 tsp salt
A tbps of freshly chopped coriander


  • 1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan
  • 2. Add the cumin seeds. Let it sizzle for a few seconds
  • 3. Add the sliced onions. Sauté for a couple of mins on low heat until they change colour
  • 4. Add the ginger, garlic and green chilies. Fry for about 30 seconds
  • 5. Add the turmeric. Sauté for a couple of seconds
  • 6. Add the ground coriander, chilli powder and crushed tomatoes. Mix well
  • 7. Cover and cook on medium heat for about 3-5 mins until the tomatoes are soft and pulpy and the oil rises to the top
  • 8. Add the peppers, paneer and dry fenugreek leaves. Mix carefully. Continue to cook covered on low heat for about 2-3mins
  • 9. Add the garam masala powder. Mix well. Simmer uncovered for 2 mins
  • 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander
